Altar Servers

To be an altar server is a special honor and a great privilege in the Catholic Church, a unique ministry through which a young person can help spread the word and the love of Christ through their actions and words.

• The primary role of the altar server is to assist the priest in the celebration of the Holy Eucharist (Mass) and Eucharistic Processions.
• Servers set an example to the congregation through active participation in the liturgy, singing of hymns, responses of the people, looking alert, and sitting or standing at the appropriate times.

Choir

The choir of Our Lady of Lourdes parish consists of members of various age groups who devote their voices to lifting hearts to God. It enhances the Eucharistic celebrations on Sundays and Feast days by singing in harmony.

• Choir members learn the parts of the hymns during practices held every week.

Practices are held every week.

Eucharistic Ministers

The Eucharistic Ministers are also known as Extra-ordinary Ministers of the Holy Communion. Every Saturday and Sunday they visit the home bound and sick to minister Holy Communion to them, reaching out to the far end of the parish.

• Those who need Holy Communion are required to register their name and address in the Parish office.

Lectors

Lectors are those who are committed to the ministry of the Word of God. Through prayerful proclamation, the lector is entrusted with the task of being the proclaimer of God's Word amidst the assembly at the liturgy.

Legion of Mary

The Legion of Mary was founded in Dublin, Ireland on 7 September 1921. It is a lay Catholic organization whose members give voluntary service to the Church in almost every country, under the leadership of Mary Immaculate. Its object is the glory of God through the holiness of its members, developed by prayer and active co-operation under ecclesiastical guidance.

Parish Pastoral Council

The PPC is a representative body of the Parish involved with an ongoing formation process in the pastoral care of the laypeople. The Council does not deal with acts of administration that are distinct from pastoral policies and planning.

Senior Citizen Cell

The vision of the Senior Citizen Cell is to reach out to all the senior citizens of the parish.

Society of St Vincent de Paul

The Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP) is an international voluntary organization in the Catholic Church, founded in 1833 for the sanctification of its members by personal service of the poor.

Sunday Catechism

Sunday Catechism teaches the essentials of the Christian faith to give children a strong foundation. It is meant for all school-going children up to Std X and is held every Sunday, followed by Mass. Activities include interaction with the children, use of audiovisual aids, reading the word of God, learning how to use the Bible, play-acting, group discussion, and prayer sessions.

• Sunday Catechism / Sunday School commences at 8.30 am and ends at 9.30 am, after which there is a special Mass.
• There are around 19 Catechists teaching in Sunday Catechism.
• As part of the Diocesan Catechetical Centre, the syllabus provided by them is followed.
• Children participate in the Liturgy during the Children Mass, including Introduction, Readings, and Prayer of the Faithful.
• Yearly events include Faith Formation Programs at the Deanery level, Parents Day programs, Rosary during the Novenas based on themes, and Christmas Carol Competitions.

Held every Sunday from 8.30 am to 9.30 am, followed by Mass.
